El Paradiso
An historic monument house designed by Raphael Soriano for aluminum manufacturer Albert Grossman was brought back to life after 60+ years. An interior dining room was transformed into an exterior sunken firepit/courtyard more in line with the architect’s original concept. Terrazzo floors and bathrooms were reworked and tiled. The upstairs office brought in new built-ins, flooring, windows – more sympathetic to the original design. The entire house was refashioned for modern living including reworking all the lighting. This house presented unique challenges for updating systems since there are no walls, crawl space or attic. Additionally, the exterior landscape, paving, jacuzzi, bar, fountain, and bathroom were all newly designed.
